So simple
Storing Diapers
We like storing wet and dirty diapers in a dry pail with a waterproof liner. Older babies’ solid waste can be removed by gently shaking the diaper over a toilet. You can also use flushable liners for easier clean-up or a diaper sprayer for stuck-on messes. For Chi-Baba pocket diapers, remove the inserts before tossing the diapers into your pail so it is all ready to go into the wash.
Every 2-3 days
Washing
Start with a rinse cycle with cold water and no detergent. Then wash with hot water and about 1/6 of the amount of detergent for your watching machine. We use 2 tablespoons in our top loader.
With a front loading washer you may have to run an extra rinse cycle to remove all the detergent from the diapers.
Hang dry or machine dry on low heat!
Diaper sprayers
This is one that we love to use and it works dual purpose. The Aquaus 360° Premium Hand-Held Bidet sprayer is a fantastic diaper sprayer and a great bidet. They also sell one just as a diaper sprayer but the only difference is it does not come with the extension for use as a bidet. Since they virtually cost the same you might as well go for the one that serves a dual purpose and have a clean Toshi too!

Sun bleaching
First of all, NEVER bleach your cloth diapers. You will degrade the fabric making them less absorbent. Also, you don’t want those chemicals against your baby’s skin. Instead, choose sun bleaching. Just lay them in the sun and let it work its magic. After a few hours, all the stains will just disappear. So simple and safe.
Detergents
We use unscented Tide in our home for our cloth diapers and it has worked great for us. Some other great options are:
Cheer, Country Save, Gain, Tide, Sunlight
Other brands may cause leaking troubles and rashes. So we strongly recommend the brands listed above.
Step One
Rinse/Cold Cycle
Rinse / Cold Cycle
Place all your dirty diapers into the washer and run a 6-8 minute rinse cycle on cold with 2-3 tablespoons of detergent. This first cycle will help remove most of the urin and help breakdown any solids that may remain.
Clean / Hot Cycle
Now run a full wash on hot. We use permeant press setting on our washer but see which one works best for yours. Turn your machine onto hot and add 2-3 tablespoons of detergent.
Dry Cycle
Place your now clean diapers into your dryer on your favourite setting and let them dry. You can also hang dry them if you have time or hang dry them in the sun and let the sun do its magic! Your diapers are all ready to use again.
